Data stored on your device
Shortcut names, URLs, groups, display order, todo workspaces, projects, items, and settings are saved in Chrome’s local extension storage on your device. BrowserMate does not currently create accounts or upload this data to a BrowserMate server.
Chrome bookmarks
BrowserMate displays and manages your live Chrome bookmarks when you enable the feature. Bookmarks remain in Chrome and are not copied into BrowserMate storage or cloud backups.
Voice input
Optional voice input starts only when you select the microphone button. It uses Chrome’s built-in speech recognition, so audio may be processed by Google under Google’s privacy terms. BrowserMate does not record or store audio. Recognized text is saved locally only when it becomes part of a todo workspace.
Favicons
BrowserMate first asks Chrome for a cached site icon. If unavailable, it may request a public favicon service or the shortcut’s website to locate its declared icon. Those providers receive the normal network information associated with a request. BrowserMate does not store page body content.
Import and export
Export creates a JSON file containing your BrowserMate shortcuts, groups, settings, and todo workspaces. Import reads a file you choose. These files stay under your control and do not leave your device unless you share them.
What we do not collect
- Browsing history, cookies, or page contents
- Shortcut URLs or titles, bookmark data, or todo text
- Advertising identifiers or analytics
- Name, email, payment information, or account details
Permissions
BrowserMate requests storage access for local data; bookmarks access to show and manage Chrome bookmarks; favicon access for cached icons; active-tab access for the toolbar shortcut action; and HTTP/HTTPS host access to discover icons. Microphone permission is requested only when you choose voice input.
